Excerpt & Giveaway: Pulse by Danielle Koste

Pulse
Title: PULSE
Release Date: January 1st 2018

Author: Danielle Koste
Genre: Sci-fi, Paranormal, Romance
Preorders: November 30th 2017

Short synopsis:
Rowan Platts, a virologist intern, is in over her head when she's invited to work on a secret government study. The subject: a boy with a virus that gives him vampire-like symptoms. As more information is revealed about the virus, Rowan is forced to make choices that ultimately define her morals and put her dream career, and life, in jeopardy.

Blurb:
Rowan Platts is addicted to success.

When she's presented with the chance to work on a top secret project fronted by her idol, renowned virologist Dr. Margot Miller, Rowan signs her life away without second thought. The realization she’s gotten in over her head comes only after the subject of their study is revealed: a boy with a bad attitude and an uninhibited taste for human blood.

He's a medical anomaly. Having the ability to crush metal with his bare hands and hear a heartbeat from across the room, it would make Rowan’s career if she was the one to discover what made him so unusual.

Easier said than done, with a subject who prefers snapping necks over answering questions.

EXCERPT
The sound of the security door shutting behind her was solid. Final. The bracelet, clamped snug around her wrist like a handcuff, offered no comfort. Somewhere outside her shallow breathing, she heard Miller speaking through the telecom again.
"We are sending in a doctor. You are to stay two yards away from her at all times. If you touch her, or do not cooperate, you will be immobilized. Do you understand, Subject?"
The bloodied boy did not reply. Instead, there was an unsettling silence, then Rowan heard the loud, mechanical locks on the doors. Once behind her, shutting her in, and then in front, allowing access to the monster on the other side. Rowan swallowed down the sick feeling that rose in her throat, letting out a long exhale to try and calm herself.
There was a low chuckle, then, dragging fingernails, lightly across the metal door in front of her.
“Come out of your hole, little mouse. The cat wants to play.”
His tone implied he was joking, but something sinister was also laced in it. It made the air catch in her throat, escaping in a hiss across a quivering lip. She twisted the cuff on her wrist with shaking fingers, trying to find her resolve again. She must have forgotten it in the previous room.
Rowan closed her eyes, shaking off the fear that clung to her ankles like chains, and took a heavy step towards the door. Like Pandora, opening her box of chaos, Rowan reached for the heavy handle with a timid hand. She was damned, regardless of what happened after the door opened. It was the choice to open it that condemned her.

About the Author:
Danielle Koste is a born and raised Canadian, but currently lives with her significant other in the equally snowy and cold Stockholm, Sweden. While working a day job and learning the language of the locals, she spends her free time honing the craft she's always had a passion for.

When procrastinating, Danielle likes to enjoy other forms of rich story-telling, besides the obvious abundance of novels filling up her apartment and Kindle. Movies, music, and video games are among her favorite time-wasters.

Excerpt & Giveaway: Echo by Gemma Weir

Echo
Gemma Weir
(Archer’s Creek #1)
Publication date: November 24th 2017
Genres: Erotica, Romance
Echo
I’m a Doomsday Sinner. A biker to my very soul. Women have always been the same—interchangeable. Until her. She loves my control and craves my touch. Now she’s mine. I’ve claimed her in every way possible and I won’t let anything, least of all her, tear us apart.
Olivia
I was on the holiday of a lifetime, until I ended up stranded in Archer’s Creek. Then I met a badass, Harley riding biker boy who laughed at me. He’s a bloody pain in the arse. Bossy and controlling, he’s the unexpectedly perfect guy at the worst moment—because even the strongest love can falter when a crazed psycho decides I need to die.
EXCERPT:
“Fuck, fuck, fuck! I fucking hate Texas.” I sling my backpack down, and it lands on my toe. Shooting pain bursts from my foot. “Bollocks.” Kicking the stupid thing, I mutter angrily, “Stupid fucking bag. Stupid fucking bus.”
A raspy chuckle makes me freeze.
I brush down my shirt, straighten, and spin. My eyes start at the tarmac under my feet and slowly track upwards, devouring the biker god in front of me. Jesus, he’s huge. His tight white T-shirt stretches taut over his bulging chest. Tattoos cover his arms down to his knuckles and peak tantalizingly out of the neck of his shirt. His strong, thick thighs are spread astride a badass Harley motorcycle, the polished chrome sparkling in the morning sunlight.
His hair is dark, almost black. Short at the sides but longer, shaggy and tousled on the top. God, I’m tempted to run my fingers through it. I force my hands into my pockets to stop myself from reaching out.
I finally focus on his face. Wow, he’s beautiful. Perfectly chiseled cheekbones and full lips showcase his amused grin.
“Can I help you?” I ask.
He pulls a long drag from his cigarette and lazily blows the smoke into the air. “No thanks, darlin’, I’m happy watching.” His gaze glides up and down my body, and my skin heats under his appraisal.

Author Bio:
Gemma Weir is a half crazed stay at home mom to three kids, one man child and a hell hound. She has lived in the midlands, in the UK her whole life and has wanted to write a book since she was a child. Gemma has a ridiculously dirty mind and loves her book boyfriends to be big, tattooed alpha males. Excerpt & Giveaway: Marrying an Alien Pop Star by Kendra L. Saunders

Marrying an Alien Pop Star
Kendra L. Saunders
(Alien Pop Star #3)
Published by: Crimson Tree Publishing
Publication date: November 20th 2017
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Romance, Science Fiction
Daisy and her alien fiancĂ© Griffin are planning a big wedding, but not just any big wedding – the biggest wedding the universe has ever seen. Daisy has been settling into life on Griffin’s home world of Kalesstria, running her own intergalactic music shop and planning for the big day. But things hit a road bump when there’s a problem with Griffin’s father – and it’s a little more complicated than the usual disapproving dad drama. Looks like “save the date” is going to have to take a backseat to saving the universe…
Marrying an Alien Pop Star is the perfect laugh-out-loud romantic finale to the beloved Alien Pop Star series.
EXCERPT:
Somehow, every time I return to Earth, the awful smells that make up New York City seem even more welcome to my nose. A woman can only be without the olfactory cocktail of garbage, cheap coffee, morning cigarettes, and desperate hangovers for so long.
Finally, finally, here Griffin, Dev and I are, setting foot in the East Village with nothing but our clothes, one bag, and a bunch of semi-counterfeited money. Okay, not semi-counterfeited. Completely counterfeited. Griffin and Dev can create stacks of fake Earth currencies with almost no effort, which is disconcerting if I think about it for too long. I try not think about it at all, actually.
Griffin tips himself over a filthy looking garbage can and throws up for all he’s worth. I wander away a little and stare at taxis rolling by, willing my own stomach to calm down.
I’ve ‘traveled’ through space several times with Griffin, but it really doesn’t make it any easier, evidenced by my stomach’s gleeful attempt to empty everything inside it as soon as we land at our destination. Usually, I can bully my stomach into calming down before anything actually manages to come up, but the same can’t be said for Griffin. Somehow, he’s a million times worse at traveling through space than I am, despite his people’s advanced capabilities.
And see, I love him, and aspire to comfort him when he’s feeling sad or sick, but I know better than to get too close at a time like this. Besides, that’s exactly what Griffin’s best friend Dev is for.
Aforementioned best friend makes a beeline for Griffin, sidling up to him and patting him on the back. “It’s alright,” he says, in the special soothing voice he uses for Griffin in times of stomach disaster. “Just breathe through your nose, Griff. Pretend you’re on a horizon. Everything is still. Nothing moves. You’re weightless and blissful.”
Griffin raises his head and grumbles something about not feeling very blissful, and then lurches forward to vomit again.
Where Griffin is dark haired and pale and pointy, Dev’s handsomely golden in every respect. His skin always looks freshly sun-kissed, and his big gray eyes seem rested even when he hasn’t slept. He’s a calming force on everyone he comes into contact with, even his manic best friend. “Find your calm, Griff. You’re alright. You’re weightless and–”
“I’m not alright!” Griffin replies, flailing his hands around while still leaned fully over the bin.
Dev pats Griffin on the back. “I’m proud of you, Griff. You programmed our trip this time, and you didn’t kill any of us.”
His praise is justified, because this is actually kind of a big deal. Griffin is infamously terrible at travel, and has sent himself to a few dangerous places by accident over the years. Of course, reminding him of this fact never goes over well, and today is no exception. He raises his head again to pin Dev with a nasty look.
“I happen to be…” he starts to say, and then takes a long pause, “somewhat better at traveling than I used to be, thank you very much.” With that, he pukes again, and Dev bites his lower lip to keep from smiling.

Right Gift. Wrong Day
Natalie Decker
(Offsides, #1.5)
Published by: Swoon Romance
Publication date: November 24th 2017
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult
Tyler Richardson is freaking out! Not only did he invite his new girlfriend to meet his entire family, this is also the day they will exchange gifts. But what do you get a girl after dating for only two weeks? Should he listen to his friends and just give her a card, or should he ask for a second opinion?
Layla can’t believe she agreed to have dinner with Tyler and his family. What if they don’t like her? To make matter’s worse, they agreed to exchange Christmas gifts. The boy already has everything. And what if she gets him something that’s nicer than what he gets her? That would be really awkward. Asking him what he would like is completely out of the question. Maybe she should ask his friends for help.
After a rocky start, Tyler and Layla’s relationship is everybody’s relationship goals. But can Tyler and Layla survive the holidays without losing their cool?
RIGHT GIFT WRONG DAY is a hilarious companion novella to RIGHT TEXT WRONG NUMBER from Natalie Decker.

EXCERPT
“I have a fundraiser this weekend and then we’re hosting a Christmas party the following weekend. I think it would be a great idea to bring your girlfriend to the Christmas party. Layla is her name, correct?”
“Yes, but I’m not bringing her here.” Not yet. They’re not going to judge her or belittle her as soon as her back is turned. I won’t allow it.
“Why not? Don’t you think we have a right to meet the person who is taking up so much of your time lately?”
That must be the joke of the hour. They never gave a crap before, so long as my butt wasn’t in jail, or doing anything to embarrass the family name. They didn’t care where I was. So why the change now?
“We’re not that serious yet.” I try to make it sound like nothing.
“I met your father’s family an hour after our first date.”
I want to say, “and look how well that turned out.” Mom’s miserable. Dad’s a douche. But congrats on upgrading your social status in life, ‘cause that’s what really matters. Pretty sure if I said any of this, my mom would slap the hell out of me.
“I don’t care. I’ll invite her but if she says no then that’s it. I’m not going to push her to meet you and Dad,” I say.
“Oh, she won’t just be meeting us. Your sister and her husband are coming as well as your aunts and uncles and everyone at your father’s firm.”
I narrow my eyes. “The whole family and Dad’s firm? Absolutely not.”

When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops.
I was the awkward musician, and she was the high school queen.
The only things we had in common were our music and our loneliness.
Something in her eyes told me her smile wasn’t always the truth.
Something in her voice gave me a hope I always wished to find.
And in a flash, she was gone.
Years later, she was standing in front of me on a street in New Orleans.
She was different, but so was I. Life made us colder. Harder. Isolated.
Caged.
Even though we were different, the broken pieces of me recognized the sadness in her.
Now she was back, and I wouldn’t make the mistake of letting her go again.
When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops.
When we met again, she was the darkest storm.

I never knew what he sacrificed to save my life. I never knew why he abandoned me all those years ago.
My soulmate. My first love. The only one I’ve ever wanted.
I moved on, tried to forget his smile, the way his hands felt on my skin.
But when my life gets dangerous again, he walks back into my store, white knight to the rescue.
The Mafia is breathing down our necks, threatening our second chance at romance.
But what they don’t realize is that our love makes us strong. Makes us dangerous.
The Mafia wants to kill us both, but we’re not going down without a fight.
This is a full-length romantic suspense novel that is Part 1 in an exciting new trilogy by Alexis Abbott. Explicit language. Safe from cheating.
The complete trilogy:
EXCERPT:
“After everything that’s happened today, I never expected a stranger to take that kind of time,” Serena says with a sigh.
“What’s happened today?” I ask, quirking a brow, and I see her cheeks tinge with a bit of color.
“Wh- oh, nothing. The guy who caused the accident just kind of ran off, is all,” she lies, averting her eyes to the setting sun outside.
“Dirty move,” I say, crossing my arms. “Good thing you run a soap store.”
She just stares at me in disbelief for a beat before she bursts into a laugh at my awful pun, covering her face for a moment. “Oh…wow,” she says, starting to take a few steps toward me. “Who are you?”
“Someone who can tell you’ve had too much on your plate for one day,” I say. Every muscle in my body wants to take a step toward her as well, to play the game between us that she’s slipping into already. I want to flirt with her, charm her all over again, even as a stranger, take her out for a good time. If I’m really honest, I want to bend her over that counter and take her right here and now.
But for her safety, I have to keep my distance.
“Oh, who am I kidding,” she says, running a hand through her hair and looking out the door. “You’re right. Today’s been a nightmare.” She looks back to me, eyes flitting up and down my form. “Thank you, though. Really. God, I feel so silly, you didn’t come here to-”
“Get some rest,” I say, her name on the tip of my tongue before I reel it back in. “I’ll come back by tomorrow. Maybe I can take care of any other messes that come up,” I say, a boyish smile on my face.
I see the color flush into her cheeks, and she loses her words for a moment before she says, “I’ll be here!”
She was a spoiled brat when I knew her, but even then, it was the easiest thing in the world to get her off her guard and swooning. But I liked that about her. She didn’t feel shame for her feelings. She felt everything intensely. It was good to see that hadn’t changed.
There’s so much more I want to say, but I step out into the cool air without another word to her as I hear her voice calling, “Wait, I didn’t get your name!”
I pretend not to hear.
Seeing how happy she is now, I can’t let our tangled past flood into her life and upset everything she has. She’s running her own business, for god’s sake.
How would she feel about me if she knew I was an enforcer for the mafia?

But now I don’t think I can live without it.

Paige Fieldsted lives in Utah with her husband, son Mason, and Willy the pug.
